Senior Financial Sector Development Consultant

Job Summary

The primary objective of this role is to provide expert guidance and strategic direction for the development and implementation of financial sector reforms and initiatives in Rwanda and East Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Using Agile Project Management styles, the Senior Financial Sector Development Expert will be responsible for:

Strategic Planning and Policy Development

Conducting comprehensive assessments of the financial sector in Rwanda and East Africa.
Developing strategic plans and policies to enhance financial sector development.
Advising on regulatory and institutional reforms to promote financial stability and inclusion.

Capacity Building

Designing and implementing capacity-building programs for financial institutions and regulatory bodies.
Providing training and technical assistance to enhance the skills and knowledge of stakeholders.

Project Management

Leading and managing financial sector development projects from inception to completion.
Coordinating with stakeholders, including government agencies, financial institutions, and development partners.

Research and Analysis

Conducting research on emerging trends and best practices in financial sector development.
Analyzing data and providing insights to inform policy and decision-making.

Stakeholder Engagement

Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the financial sector.
Facilitating dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

Requirements

Education

Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial sector development, with a focus on Rwanda and East Africa.
Familiarity with specific financial technologies, experience with international development, or prior work with specific organizations or sectors.
Proven track record in strategic planning, policy development, and project management.

Technical Skills

Strong analytical and research skills.
In-depth knowledge of financial sector regulations and best practices.
Proficiency in using analytical tools and software.
Familiarity with financial modeling and forecasting techniques.

Competencies

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to present findings and recommendations clearly to clients.
Strong problem-solving abilities to address client challenges.
